New Hair Balayage

I have finally taken the plunge and decided to give my hair a new pop of colour and gone with Balayage. My hair has been so long since I can remember and I have never done anything to it over the years, apart from to use the odd wash in wash out hair dye here and there to keep it looking shiny and healthy. I have to admit when it comes to styling my hair I am super lazy and therefore very rarely straighten or curl it. Luckily apart from the odd bit of frizz, I think I can get away with it usually, especially as for work it is always up in a plait of pony tail. However after years of being dark, I decided that I wanted to head back to my lighter roots and have fallen in love with balayage.
I booked in for a consultation session first, which I would always recommend as that way you can really assess whether your expectations and ideas are possible and it also gives you an opportunity to see if your hairdresser understands and connects with what you are hoping for. For me, trust is such a big thing having grown my hair for such a long time, so honesty and keeping my hair healthy was essential. When I first visited for my consolation and explained what I was hoping for, his honest reaction was, I don’t think it will be possible straight away, explaining that he would rather take my hair to a lighter brunette shade and then slowly build on the colour from there. This was how I knew that I had someone who was happy to build on the process slowly! However following this, I was unable to book my colour appointment for a further 4 weeks and in this time my hair had really lightened and therefore we were able to go a little lighter on the first colour appointment. Of course I made sure that the infamous Olaplex was used as this stuff is a miracle worker for anyone looking to take the hair lighter!

This was the first time I have ever walked out of a hair salon and felt truly happy with my hair!! I loved the colour and what he was able to achieve just in 1 session! My hair felt nourished and shiny and since has remained looking bright and soft.

I have popped in some photographs just showing you my hair colour as it was using wash in wash out dye for years and then just before I had the colour appointment.

I am so excited for the second stage which will be evening out the colour and going lighter, with some more blonde slices around my face. My appointment (6 weeks after my previous) is next thursday so I will update you on the colour then.

Also can you tell how in love I have fallen with this new snapchat filter, don’t you wish it could just follow you around in really life :). Have any of you had balayage or thinking of having it done?

Lots of love

xxxxxxxxxx
